The Metanoia Farm is made up of three groups of people:
|
The Farm Team
The Farm Team is responsible for the behind-the-scenes administration, visioning, and decision-making work that make this farm possible!
With the exception of the Farm Coordinator, Farm Team members volunteer their time. Farm Team tasks include monthly planning meetings in the off-season, collective decision-making about farm vision and structure, and supporting the Farm Coordinator with administrative tasks as needed. |
|
The Farm Collective
The Farm Collective is the group of people who provide most of the labour needed to maintain the farm space, caring for its flora, fauna, and funga. The Farm Collective is the backbone of farm operations!
Members, know as Community Growers, give weekly labour to grow food and maintain the Farm Space together, co-creating the conditions for us all to get the benefits of fresh food, access to growing and gathering space, and social connections with other farmers. |
|
The Hen Collective
The Hen Collective is full for the 2026 season. If you are interested, email us to be put on the wait list.
The Hen Collective is a group of people collaborating to make having laying hens on our farm possible!
Following the format of Community Shared Agriculture, Hen Collective members (known as Hen Herders) pay for the purchase, feed, and care costs of one hen and in return receive a percentage of the total egg collection every two weeks. Hen Herders also commit to five half-hour labour shifts throughout the season to help take care of the hens. |
Our Relationships:
|
Canadian Mennonite University
The Farm began when Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) alumni, in collaboration with a CMU professor, approached the university with a proposal to start a urban farm on what was some of the campus' lawn space. Ever since 2011, The Farm's land access has been made possible through a Memorandum of Understanding with CMU.
CMU also purchases the largest share of our produce, which is then used in their residence cafeteria and their on campus café, folio. This share, conceptualized within the ideological framework of Community Shared Agriculture, provides the Farm with the bulk of the revenue needed to cover the Farm's expenses and operational costs. We are very grateful for CMU's support of the Farm! |
